The Hornets 25th – Hornets 25th Anniversary Celebration

  • The Post Office Hotel 229-231 Sydney Rd Coburg, VIC, 3058 Australia (map)

The Hornets have been a mainstay of Melbourne and Australia’s blues and roots scene for two and a half decades and it’s time to celebrate their contribution with a special show at the P.O.

If all this isn’t enough, The Hornets have just released their new ninth album Lowdown in Lockdown. Featuring special guests Lindsay Field, Steve Williams, (both from John Farnham’s band) Sam Lemann, Alex Vella Horne and Louie Burstin, plus all the regulars, songs like Nothing Stays the Same and the stunning gospel fuelled Distracted by Distractions capture the blues and boredom of musicians being trapped at home and denied the stage for 18 months, while rowdy opener I Ain’t Drunk (Just Drinking), is soaked in the relief and release of winning freedom.

The current line-up of the band includes its three constant members: singer/songwriter and guitarist Craig Horne ARIA Hall of Famer guitarist Jeff Burstin (Jo Jo Zep, Black Sorrows), ARIA Award winning keyboardist Bruce Haymes (Archie Roach, Paul Kelly) plus the driving rhythm section of Chris Tabone (Badloves) on drums and Yuri Pavlinov (Bamboos, Cat Empire) bass. But no matter which combination has taken the stage The Hornets over the past 25 years have played literally thousands of foot-stompin’ shows up and down the country.
