The Distant South

  • The Post Office Hotel 229-231 Sydney Rd Coburg, VIC, 3058 Australia (map)

The Distant South are a Melbourne based Americana/Country/Folk band playing their own tunes and telling their own stories of Love, Loss, Heartbreak, Depression and unbridled joy - all laced with a good dose of self deprecating humour. Comprising singer/songwriter, Nick Howells, Brad Partridge on Double Bass, Renee Bufton on Violin and Vocals, Jim Ten Hoev on Banjo, harmonica and weisenbourn and John Jessen on drums. Off the back of their 2021 EP “The Distant South”, the band are currently working with Myles Mumford at Rolling Stock Studios to record their debut album. Inspired by Alt Country, Americana, Bluegrass and Folk music, influences include Sierra Ferrell, liz Stringer, Old Crow Medicine Show, Gillian Welch, The Cox Family and Courtney Marie Andrews. Acoustic by nature - melody, harmonies, emotive lyrics amd a good dose of twang - are the artefacts that define the sound of The Distant South.

The Distant South are delighted to be playing 2 full sets of their songs at The Post Office Hotel on the 24th of July from 5 pm. Search for The Distant South on Spotify, Facebook and Instagram.

Later Event: 29 July
