Francis Plagne

A special performance to farewell Joe Talia, who (in the grand tradition of members of the Francis Plagne band moving overseas) is moving to Tokyo. Recently praised by the Wire magazine for his ‘controlled power’, Joe is an integral part of Francis Plagne’s recently released and warmly received LP Funeral Mutes as well as numerous other projects with Oren Ambarchi, Ned Collette, James Rushford and many others. Joe will perform alongside Francis (guitar and voice), Ben Bourke (bass), Rohan Drape (organ), Alex Garsden (guitar) and special guest Scott McConnachie (saxophones), playing songs from Funeral Mutes that were described by the Guardian as having ‘a way of opening up space; of generating – instead of consuming – the quiet.’ As always, literal bells and whistles are to be expected. Support will come in the shape of a special solo acoustic guitar set by Alexander Garsden, performing his virtuosic and hypnotic take on the compositions of John Fahey.
