Static Animal was formed in 2014 as a small recording project formed by Michael Gibbon and Sam Pannifex in their final year of high school; making music that is best described as ambient/experimental/guitar-based pop. Following the moderate underground success of the single ‘Majorca’ off of the band’s self-titled EP (2014), Gibbon enlisted the help of Dan Oke (aka Jarrow) to play guitar on the band’s follow-up EP ‘Morning Sounds’ (2016). Both EP’s were released and distributed on cassette by the influential DIY U.S label ‘Sports Day Records’ and have since received notable attention within the bedroom pop scene. In the meantime the band have been working on new material for their debut album, which will be released later in 2018. Currently Static Animal is led by Michael Gibbon (vocals, bass, guitar, keyboards, samples), Dan Oke (guitar), Sam Pannifex (guitar), Reuben Maskell (live drums) and Josh Diamond-Smith (live bass).
 

This Saturday 23rd of June, Static Animal will be performing a collection of old and new songs from the aforementioned debut album at The Post Office Hotel. This will be the band’s first headline show of 2018. Friend and recent collaborator Culte will also be supporting with an intimate solo set later in the evening…
