NQR, genre-busting drummer Nick Martyn brings together some big guns to present exploratory, hungry, pumping jazz in the Post Office Hotel bar in Cobourg. His trio featuring Hiatus Kaiyote’s Simon Mavin (keys) and Paul Bender (double bass) will take the standard repertoire of jazz and lower it right down to where the kegs are kept. If you dig Charles Minguez, Bill Evangelis, Keith Jarhead and Herbie Handy you’ll love these guys. They promise not only to not spoil your Sunday arvo but make it way better with cool music you don’t hear much unless you’re a fan of Blue Note record and the like. Also: Free entry = no worries.
