Ben Mason's debut album Holes and Corners is a concise collection of bedroom breakup pop that showcases his talent for well crafted songs, articulating those shitty feelings we've all had from falling out of love and ending relationships. The album release is perfectly timed to be your companion to a gloomy winter.
Holes and Corners was recorded and produced by Ben Mason at home in Melbourne, Australia. It was then mixed in Portland, USA by Adam Selzer (M Ward, Laura Gibson). After it returned home from its Portland sojourn, it was mastered by Byron Scullin (Kesband, Laura Jean, Ned Collette).
In addition to his former band, Melbourne psych-pop masters, the Smallgoods, Ben has been making music on his own for some time. He has played with such artists as Jason Lytle (Grandaddy), Lawrence Arabia, and The Clouds. He has released two volumes in his Acapulco series where he records intricate and layered versions of songs entirely a'capella. Ben has most recently completed a song for song, note for note, re-recording of The Zombies classic album, Odessey and Oracle, where he played every instrument and sang every vocal line. The project is titled The Odessey Odyssey and there is a limited release of vinyl with his hand screen printed original artwork.
