Next door to the pub, at 229 Sydney Road, is the POH's newest addition, the 229 Cafe and Dining Hall. The large space has been given a modern makeover with exposed brick walls, fire place, hanging pendant lights and recycled timber tables. There's shaded seating on stools out the front, a large communal table to spread out your morning paper and several intimate booths with leather banquettes.
But we think the best seats in the house are along the bar of the fiery open kitchen where chefs prepare fresh contemporary dishes, from prawns plucked straight from the grill to house-cured salmon with spring peas, lip-smacking mulberry lamb ribs, charred Romsey T-Bone steak and half-grilled chicken with roasted corn and heirloom carrots.
Our baristas work their magic from 7am with locally roasted Padre coffee while fresh loaves, sweets and pastries are baked in house by Pier Luigi. Enjoy our all day breakfast with free range poached eggs on toasted ciabatta, pork croquettes with crispy pigs ear salad, hot lamb shoulder sandwich and cheese toasties for the kids on offer. From midday indulge in the POH parma or pub favourite the wagyu burger.
